Well. I have seen Jackson play since the 1970's and I still wish I could see him again the next night after the show I just witnessed. This show was great as there was a band and the last two I attended were solo acoustic. I enjoyed the band and the whole vibe of living the past in the present. What a great show. I almost wanted to drive to the next venue and see this again. It would not be the same show but I really enjoyed the setlist. Can I tell you I really really wanted to hear "Redneck Friend?"

Anyway...Here is a song that was requested. The band did not know it but Val McCallum on guitar rocked the solo work even as he learned it on the fly.

I have so much live music scheduled I am wondering how to sleep...I'll be back soon with more updates. There is so much cool music on my horizon. I know at times I am living my dream. Work hard, play hard.

I took this picture the night I headed to the North Carolina Coast. My favorite destination or maybe one of them. Ocean Isle Beach. An afternoon with the Durham Bulls and some good food, then the number one Pollstar venue in the United States, the Durham Performing Arts Center.
I had to pick this show as the one I really wanted to see was a conflict with a recent travel to Mississippi. I was happy to be close to the Jackson Browne action again and see Sara Watkins open the show. I had seen Sara before open with John Prine a bit ago. She was half of the Nickel Creek group and she is very good. Jackson really likes her. I have some really close shots of her signing my cd and smiling to all the people buying her cd. That was very cool.

Jackson was his usual self. He had a set list but he did not stick to it. Before the show started I met a guy two seats from me who had shook Jackson's hand two nights before in Richmond. He ended up relaying four songs to Jackson to play. The whole thing was awesome. One of the songs relayed was "Shakey Town." Jackson said "You want to hear Shakey Town?" His band had no idea as they had not practiced this one...but they are so talented they played it anyway...

I should mention this song was written by Danny Kortchmar. I shook his hand at a somewhat recent Carole King and James Taylor show. He rocks the guitar. Too bad he dropped off as a Facebook friend due to his popularity!

Glenn Campbell!!

Well I saw Glenn do an interview with CBS Sunday morning and I instantly decided to go see him. I was fortunate to have a show come right up in my area.

I drove to Cary by myself to see him and ended up sitting on the second row center with a friend of mine from Wilmington, NC, Steve Campbell. I have seen Steve at so many shows and I think we are the ones trying to see the most live shows and sit on the stage or in the front row at every one of them. We had a blast even with the bad weather. Very cool.

Glenn is a legend. I love seeing the Beach Boys guitarist playing on stage and feeling the past in the present. I had a great evening. Go see this concert if you can while you can. 'Nuff said.

Ashley and Glenn Campbell. Great stuff. I took this picture at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, North Carolina. It was raining and we were giving standing ovations to every song. I knew it was the last chance to see him. I soaked up every second of it.

Tropical Music Key West Style.

Down in the tropics I ran into lot's of friends and great music. On this night Howard Livingston was playing the Smokin' Tuna in Key West and all of these guys took the stage at one time or another. (Left to right) Thom Sheperd, Paul Roush, Howard Livingston, and Jim Hoehn.

Devon Allman and Me at the Arts Center.

Devon Allman and me after the show. Devon has his own band and has performed with his Dad Gregg Allman on stage many times with the Allman Brothers Band. In fact he had some pictures of his uncle Duane Allman's guitar he played one night on stage with the Allman Brothers. Very cool stuff.

This photo was taken at the Arts Center in Carrboro, North Carolina. I literally flew in from Key West and drove an hour to see this gig with little time to spare. Thankfully there were no airline delays..

The photo above features most of the band and "Jumpin'" Johnny Sansone on stage. The players are Mike Zito, Devon Allman, Cyril Neville, Charlie Wooten, and Yonrico Scott. I would call this a bit of a supergroup from all their backgrounds in the Neville Brothers, The Meters, Allman Brothers, Derek Trucks Band, on and on. They took time away from their normal bands and gigs to form this band to tour behind a cd release. It is great stuff and you should go see them! The live performance just rocks.

It was a great night. I enjoyed the original music and the covers this band played. It was an outstanding show! Not to mention getting to talk to all of them after the show for quite a while. Did I mention I talked to them before the show? Yeah I had a good time. 'Nuff said.

My picture from June 7th at the Arts Center in Carrboro, North Carolina. Show number two only four years and two days since the last time I saw him at a solo show. I missed Jimmy Buffett in Charlotte to go see this performance and be able to talk to Jake. It was worth it.

Eddy Vetter recently called Jake the best ukelele player on the planet in Rolling Stone. I call him a great performer and a really nice guy. He is selling out venues around the world. I should write a page of stories about him but I don't need to. Go see him. Buy his music. Enjoy. 'Nuff said.
