James Brown.

James Brown died on Christmas Day 2006. Bummer. James Brown was one of those cool performers that I have always enjoyed. Of course I tell everyone my favorite movie is "The Blues Brothers" so you quickly get the vibe of why I like James just from that movie.
On Thursday, members of the public will be able to view Brown's body, which will lie in state at the Apollo Theater in New York. The body also will lie in state on Saturday at James Brown Arena in Augusta, where the 1 p.m. public service will be held.
R&B baby. James you will be missed. Thankfully we have your recordings and you left your mark. Rock on James Brown.

Me with Janet Leist and Tim Glancey. Behind every good convention director is a good woman. Janet is Alex Leist's wife and the good-looking one in the middle with the nice smile.... Tim Glancey is the man behind several ventures including "Trails of Margaritaville" and Sports Magic. I should mention my Tennesee pal Ms. Charley does web development for Tim...so e-mail her for web site work!
For the folks who don't know Tim's company provides the "carnival" before each Jimmy Buffett concert. They shoot t-shirts into the audience and walk on stilts as they rev the crowd up before each show. Ever shoot the coconut ball into Wally's goal at a Jimmy Buffett show? Hey my daughter hit that thing once!

Coastin' with Larry Joe Taylor...

Larry Joe Taylor http://www.larryjoetaylor.com/ on stage before Jerry Jeff Walker. Larry Joe is one of my favorites. He has some awesome stories and a very cool Texas Music Festival attended by thousands in April. Check out his web site if you want to go to a fabulous music festival and be sure to pick up some of his top shelf cds. Larry Joe dropped by to play a song or two during the John Frinzi and Friends show. We took a picture together but it was a rainy night, bad hair evening, and 2 AM in the morning on very little sleep...so I won't be scaring you with that one!

The view from the Margaritaville Offices on Duval.

The view out of the second story margaritaville offices during the Friday street fest. Beads flying everywhere....I threw my share! It was great fun!

Steve and Jerry Jeff

Here is my vantage point. Jerry Jeff talking to Steve Huntington of radiomargaritaville right after the show. Very cool. 'Nuff said.

Jerry Jeff and Keith Sykes before the show in Key West.

Jery Jeff and Keith share a moment just before the show in Key West. I really like that guitar! Jerry Jeff played the show of his life that night. Everyone I talked to who had seen Jerry Jeff play before agreed..there was something special about this show. There was giant Texas state flag hanging on the Casa Marina wall that night and a capacity crowd watching. I have seen him before and we have talked a while. We are not..all that young but that night we were. This was the one. What a show.....what a show.

TC Downtown Key West!

Here is our favorite horn guy from the Coral Reefer Band. TC Mitchell on Duval Street during the MOTM streetfest. You rock TC. "Nuff" said. http://tcmitchellmusic.com/

Keith Sykes!

Here is Keith Sykes http://www.keithsykes.com/ playing right before Jerry Jeff Walker. Keith is THE MAN. What a singer-song writer. I had a chat recently with Marshall Chapman http://www.tallgirl.com/ and our pal Keith came up in the conversation. She told me something that stuck in my mind from that interchange. She said "That man is making the best music he has ever made right now." I have to agree. He is pounding out some great songs right now. He is in his prime. If you are not listening to his music you are really missing something. Go buy his cds and you will not be disappointed! He is such a talent. http://www.keithsykes.com/

Deb McCall and Bobby G in Key West.

Another late night in Key West! My friend from California and one of the hardest working PHIP http://www.phip.com/ members in the USA, Deb McCall with Coral Reefer Pan Man Extraordinaire, Robert Greenidge. http://www.robertgreenidge.com/ Bobby G. and Deb are really great people... check out those smiles...yeah life is good in Key West. We had some great fun that night hanging right out late on the deck over-looking the Atlantic with some great people and live music. I really like this picture. Two of my pals smiling and showing you just how great it is to be together on a fabulous night in Key West. To quote Dan Ackroyd...Damn this is better than any pharmaceutical product!
