A new album. Great music. This live show is off the meter. Will writes and plays like a legend in the making. He only needs time. He already has the rest. Awesome stuff!
Marshall is, well she is in my heart. Southern to the core, she is so talented and loves so many cool things I embrace at the same time.
I really should not say this but not only do I love her music, her circle of friends, but the whole thing. The last time I saw her the very last thing she said to me was, and she pointed to her left cheek "Put her right there." I did. What a great soul. A southern soul is forever. 'Nuff said. Life is good. Take it Marshall....

I love everybody
I love everything
I’ve got no agenda
I just want to dance and sing
It ain’t complicated
There’s nothing really to explain
I love everybody
I love everything

What a great album. Go buy it now!

The Heartbreakers End the Show in Charlotte!

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This is the 2010 Charlotte version. I am ready for the next time. Life is good. See you down the road...

It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin'
Trees went by, me and Del were singing
Little runaway, I was flyin'

Yeah, runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, Goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream

I felt so good, like anything was possible
Hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days and the rain was unstoppable
It was always cold, no sun shine

Yeah, runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery, Goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream...

More Mike Campbell.

Mike Campbell.

I really liked this picture. Ok I know I say that all the time. I think it is hard for me not to love great concert photography. I wished they would let me take pictures with an Nikon SLR and zoom lens. I do what I can with a pocket camera to share on my blog.

Mike was rocking it all night long. These guys are such a band. Here is an old video link to Mike Campbell...all the best parts...

Mike Campbell...

The co-captain of the team. He is off the meter. I never tire of seeing him perform.

Free Fallin'

The classic Tom Petty pose on stage.

I have seen him on the last I don't know how many tours. All I can say is I would go again. I really love the music.

You Don't Know How it Feels...

My old man was born to rock
He's still tryin' to beat the clock
Think of me what you will
I've got a little space to fill

So let's get to the point, let's roll another joint
And let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I got to go
And you don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels
No, you don't know how it feels to be me

Tom..

I am just going to share a few photos. Enjoy.

Benmont Tench!

Benmont is rocking on that harp! He sits in his corner and just plays everything. Everyone in this band is fabulous. I heard Tom Petty talking about this MOJO album and he said he kept throwing harmonica parts to Benmont during the recording process. He would just crank them out. He rocks on all counts.

Here is the Saturday Night Live video...check out the harp..

Tom Petty takes the Stage in Charlotte!

Tom Petty. Here he is playing the 'Jefferson Jericho Blues" right off the newest "MOJO" album. It is my favorite song off the album and if you listen to the song you can hear the salute to the Allman Brothers Band. Major harmony work. I really love the super fat Gibson guitar sounds. Mike Campbell is smoking that Les Paul and Tom is kicking ass in his corner too. I never tire of Tom Petty and his band. They blow the roof off.

Oh yeah...

My altered version of Billy with his cigar after two beautiful ladies delivered it to him on stage wearing some really nice outfits. I will leave that to your imagination. I do have pictures...anyway. I liked this one just before the encore. This band truly rocks on stage. They are an awesome bunch.

A Cool Shot.

I love this picture. It really shows the coolness of the performance. These guys were on fire on this night. And the crowd never sat down. They were in the zone.

Dusty & Billy!

Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons. They just rock. They are masters of guitar and great showmen...They just get better and better.

My story is this. I was a ZZ Top fan way back in the 1970's. I have albums that are out of print. The good ones. Awesome blues stuff. I have to just say. I have seen them several times. This may have been the best. The live ZZ Top show blows the recorded version away. You just have to be there. You really do.

Frank Beard on Drums. ZZ Top!!

Frank Beard. I started with him because he is the percussive backdrop to a great band. He is also the only member with no beard. And he is still cool.

My daughter & Lady Gaga...

So the next day after the John Jorgensen concert I head for Charlotte for the weekend. It is lady Gaga downtown at the Time Warner Arena and ZZ Top and Tom Petty on Sunday night. The Lady Gaga show was a real hoot. The audience dresses crazy! I really loved the whole scene outside with the "shout" preachers from South Carolina and the women all dolled up in their best underwear as outerwear. It was something I will never forget. My daughter Alex enjoyed the show and I enjoyed the show outside...

John and Jason closing out the show...

John and Jason towards the end of the second set just before the encores started. They played an amazing song. It went all the way from intensely loud to soft harmonics. This is a great band and you should go see them on tour. If you scroll up on this link you can see the band members pictures and biography.

It was a great night in an intimate church setting. I helped the band load out after the show and was able to talk to John for maybe twenty minutes. He is a great guy and I really love to hear him play. He is one of those performers I would see over and over. 'Nuff said.

Oh before I go on to the next show I should mention that you buy John's newest cd. I am listening to "Bella Ella" as I write this. It is one for his grand-daughter and my favorite on the cd.

More John..

As the night goes on John rips through his new album of songs called "One Stolen Night."
His band is very low key, they just play hard and only take one break. What a great show!
I have to say thinks to Bill Payne for bringing them back to town.

The John Jorgensen Quintet...

John and his band.

John plays the music of Django Reinhardt and he talks of him as "the man" in this style of music. He has even played the part in a movie about him. In 2005, the movie 'Head in the Clouds" was released starring Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz, the movie features John on camera as Django Reinhardt, complete with burned hand and gypsy moustache.

My take on John? Well if you look back through time in my blog I have seen him quite a few times and even have pictures of him performing on stage with Elton John a mere 15 feet from my camera. I have seen him perform acoustic and electric. John freakin' burns the strings off a guitar. His band members are usually over-the-top technical players who are so tight you wonder if they are not going to explode at some point. I will go on record as saying he has exceeded anything Django Reinhardt ever played. This man is a master.

You be the judge. Here's Django and his band:

John Jorgensen!

John Jorgensen. http://www.johnjorgenson.com/biography.html

He is back in Greensboro with his quintet for a very nice evening of some unbelievably good playing. This band is traveling hard all over the world and we were very fortunate to even see him in between all of their travels. His next stop was Washington D.C.
