Mac McAnally Donates Single Royalties!!!

http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/

I don't normally post press releases to my blog but I liked this one. I suggest you go tell ten friends to download this song.
Let's make a statement. Thanks Mac.

MAC McANALLY DONATES SINGLE ROYALTIES
Wounded Warriors To Receive Proceeds From April 27 Release

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Newly signed Show Dog Nashville recording artist and eminently respected music maker Mac McAnally has pledged to donate all his artist royalties from his debut single "You First"
released on April 27 to the Wounded Warriors Project, whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors. The commitment to helping wounded soldiers fits well with the song's theme of brotherly love.
The single, which is available through all digital music retailers, is prelude to a full album expected to be completed in June as McAnally works recording into his touring schedule. A longtime member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer band, Mac has been on the road much of this year.

Beyond his artist career, musician commitments and other musical endeavors, McAnally is well known as one of the most successful songwriters of his era. And to that end he will be performing May 1 and 2 in Key West at performing rights organization ASCAP's annual songwriter's festival.

Of course, it was Mac who wrote the recent No. 1 hit "Down The Road"
for Kenny Chesney. And Chesney is so enamored of Mac's hugely successful body of work he brought him into the studio to add his vocals to the song.

"Mac McAnally is the best kind of songwriter," Chesney said recently.
"With a couple chords and few lines, he opens up whole worlds...
worlds that are exactly where you came from, places you know by heart and people who made you who you are today. It is so simple, yet nobody else can take you to those places -- or make you feel so at home in the space of three minutes. But that's why Mac is the songwriter everybody wishes they could be."

And with the release of "You First" and the donation of its proceeds to those in need, Mac McAnally has the chance to contribute even more than he already has with music alone.

I know that Jimmy is not a big blog fan. So most of the time I don't post too many pictures of him. But I took this one the other night and I liked it.

Hey it's my blog, I blog because I love it and so I post what I want to. I ain't never made a dime doing this and it is cool with me. Life is good, I'll see you down the road. Mile marker zero.

Peace, love, and birkenstocks.

Peavy!!

Wally and the Margaritaville golf cart at the Raleigh Jimmy Buffett show pre-parking lot fun zone.

I really like the Peavy gear. http://www.peavey.com/

I spent some time living in Meridian, Mississippi many years ago. The Peavy florist shop was beside my father's business at the time and many of my school mates had parent working in the factory making stuff. Mutt Peavey was a constant around town so they were just local folks to us.

Anyway these folks were playing guitar video games at the golf cart...and having fun. Funny how things change from the daze when Jimmy just played a show...I am just shaking my head and smiling.

John Prine!!!

Online there is a fan shrine to John Prine. http://www.jpshrine.org/
That is where we all belong. John is one awesome guy. A super nice person and genuine talent. Over the course of the night he mentioned several names that mean a lot to me such as Jimmy Buffett and Steve Goodman. Man I miss Steve Goodman!

There was a moment when my friend Keith Sykes came to mind. The last time I saw John Keith opened for him. You can go back in my blog and see that story. Keith co-wrote "Long Monday" with John. What a great song. http://www.keithsykes.com/

That's the way the whole night was. Great.
You rock John. Long may you run. I'll see ya down the road.

You and me
Sittin' in the back my memory
Like a honey bee
Buzzin' 'round a glass of sweet Chablis
Radio's on
Windows rolled up
And my mind's rolled down
Headlights shining
Like silver moons
Rollin' on the ground

We made love
In everyway love can be made
And we made time
Look like time
Could never fade

Jamming.

Jamming! John always plays the elder statesman musician and brings along brilliant young talent to open and close the show. This night was no exception. Thanks John.

Jason Wilber!!

Jason Wilber on stage with John Prine.

Jason is one awesome player. He plays about anything with strings and he plays it very well. I am a Jason Wilber VIP. You can be too, for free. Go to his web site and check it out.

I took this photo of Jason just as he finished the song that John wrote for his wife called "The Glory of True Love." Jason has the signature electric guitar line in this song and it is one of my favorites. What an awesome song. Jason also plays a mean slide. He and John were jamming towards the end of the show with two bluesy numbers that really rocked. These guys are just outstanding together.

Oh, the glory of true love
Is a wild and precious thing
It don't grow on old magnolias
Or only blossom in the spring
No, the glory of true love
Is it will last your whole life through
Never will go out of fashion
Always will look good on you

John Prine Plays Ovens Auditorium!

http://www.johnprine.net/

What can I say about John that I haven't already said on this blog? I never tire of him. I have lost count of the John Prine shows I have seen and they always seem better than the last one. Maybe that is why I keep going. Yes that is it.

Sara Watkins!

http://www.sarawatkins.com/

The other night I went to see John Prine at Ovens in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Sara Watkins opened for John. I have never seen Nickle Creek or Sara live on stage but I do have a cd or two from them. Not bad! http://www.nickelcreek.com/
