John Prine!

John Prine on stage at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. I took this picture in the early 1980's. One of many John Prine shows I have attended this one was "beer-free" except for the ones I had in my socks...oh yeah, there were no cameras allowed either. My Friend David Shaw of Greenwood, Mississippi

My oldest friend in this world, David Shaw of Greenwood, Mississippi in the current Peavey Monitor Magazine. I lived in Meridian, MS for 5 years and ran into all these Peavey guys all the time in the old shop which was right next door to my Dad's business downtown. The Mississippi delta rocks and David is a long time native. We went to first grade together...I lived in Greenwood for seven years and we became fast friends as we both loved music, electronics, and sound. We have remained friends all our lives through the years. He is an old musician as well having played piano from six and guitar for many years. Now he runs sound all the time and does first class electronic repairs in Jackson several days a week. http://shop.mobro.net/about.htm I still have my prototype amp he built from scratch back in the days when he worked with Harrison Holmes in the amp factory in Greenwood. Oh let me set Hartley Peavey straight here in the article...David is from Greenwood, not Greenville....there is a difference! David is the man and my oldest friend in the world. That means something to me. Thanks for putting him in the magazine ya'll! Gotta love those Peaveys.

Oh yeah...David is always inventing something.....http://www.rstweb.com/davidshaw/home.htm
The only guy I know who gives his community a real "Treat" at Halloween. I have spent quite a few nights at 1107 West President in Greenwood and I hope I see a few more there soon. "Nuff said.

Robert Earl Keen!

Robert Earl Keen and Rich Brotherton on stage. Rich is quite a talent as is the whole band. Words don't do these guys justice, they deserve 25,000 fans at a show. In fact the sold-out crowd last night sounded that big. I think everyone there knew all the words to the music. Robert Earl has a new cd release coming in May 2005. I can't wait...meanwhile tune in to the Down South Radio Hour on http://www.radiomargaritaville.com for a regular play of Robert Earl Keen's music. Posted by Hello

Robert Earl Keen from the stage at Ziggy's. http://www.ziggyrock.com/ What a great sold-out crowd. Standing room only, people on the street wanting tickets. If you aren't going to see this man and his band you are missing a wonderful experience. A truly nice guy and such a top-notch song writer. Go to his web site and see when you catch him live in your home town. My photo has lousy red-eye reduction but I love the smile..... http://www.robertearlkeen.com/ Posted by Hello

Dr. John!!

Dr. John plays the Hammond B3 right behind his piano. Three songs that were awesome from last night...Number one (my humble opinion) was the Leadbelly story intoduction to "Irene" then from the latest "N'Awlinz Dis Dat or D'Udda" "The Monkey" and then the finale...."Such a Night" Visit Dr John at http://www.drjohn.org/ or just listen to http://www.radiomargaritaville.com for your Dr. John fix.Posted by Hello

Dr. John last night in Carrboro, North Carolina at the Arts Center. What a great sold-out show. I was three feet from the piano and had a blast.  Posted by Hello
