Tinsley Ellis at the Green Parrot last Saturday night. An awesome show I saw him two nights in a row. His keyboard player is killer. The Green Parrot always rocks. Posted by Picasa

Steel your Heart in Key West!

Robert Greenidge and the "Steel Your Heart Band" from Key West at the Atlantic Shores. Bobby G. has been working with this school group from Key West for several years and they are great. This was one of my favorite moments of the week. These kids were singing and playing pans in a very cool way. They are so good to be so young. You can see Bobby G grin when they play. I remember seeing him in Raleigh in the late 1990's watching a young band play and you can see it is his passion to see the young players on pans. I ran into him so many times this past week...he was a few doors down from me at the Reach and we even ran into each other in the elevator several times and at Mr. Z's at 3 AM getting pizza and subs! Bobby G is the best! Check him out as he told me he will be working with this group more for next year in between Jimmy B concerts! This event is not to be missed. http://www.robertgreenidge.com/ Posted by Picasa

R. Scott Bryan and me at the Atlantic Shores in Key West.

Me and R. Scott Bryan at the Atlantic Shores after the Robert Greenidge show on Sunday. From here I took Scott up to mallory Square on my moped to watch the sunset. http://www.rscottbryan.com/ Scott is very talented. Check his biography out on his web site...While I mostly see him playing percussion (with the likes of Sheryl Crow & Peter Mayer) I actually think his guitar and solo vocal work is very, very good. My favorite tune from Scott is "Stormy Monday" which I have heard him do several times. Very talented, he is not to be missed. Go check him out. Posted by Picasa

The Blue Heaven in Key West. Notice the lack of tropical vegetation. This due to the salt water flood and the trees dropping their leaves after Hurricane Wilma. Very different....I am so used to the dense green color around here....I guess this is a "historic" picture. Next year let's hope this picture is mostly green. Posted by Picasa

Sunny Jim at Blue Heaven!

James "Sunny Jim" White, the man at the Blue Heaven on Sunday. A long standing tradition, Sunny Jim started a very cool thing having all the players come jam on Sunday after Meeting of the Minds winds down. He has a new cd you should check out. Sunny Jim is very talented and I am happy to call him a friend. http://sunnyjim.com/ Posted by Picasa

(L-R) (Coral Reefer Sax) TC Mitchell, Tina Gullickson http://www.tinag.com/pages/1/, Chris Huntington, Steve Huntington. http://radiomargaritaville.com/ A happy moment, a sad moment. All smiles while waiting for the airport shuttle. Posted by Picasa

Coral Reefers at the Conch Republic...

You never know who will show up at your table in Key West. (L-R) Fingers Tayor, Mac McAnally, Mike Utley. We were watching Fing play with Don Middlebrook and these Coral Reefers came by to sit a while and say hello to their old friend. They can have my chair anytime. Posted by Picasa

Hugo at the Hog....I think everyone jammed with this band during the week. That is the coolest part of all...seeing everyone add something to the gig.  Posted by Picasa

I had to share this photo....Me, Keith, and Steve next to the stage out back of the Reach after the Larry Joe Taylor and Keith Sykes show. There was some awesome talent on that stage. Probably some of the best I saw in the last week.  Posted by Picasa

Tom, Keith, and Me last Friday Night on the Beach.

Here is (L-R) Tom Corcoran http://www.tomcorcoran.net/tomcorcoranmain.htm (longtime friend of Jimmy B and author of many novels) Keith Sykes http://www.keithsykes.com/ former Coral reefer and awesome musician and vocalist - I call him my pal) and me...after the show last Friday night about 2 AM....we all talked till the wee hours of the morning on that Key West Beach at the Reach Resort. . What a night. This picture was taken by my "Radiomargaritaville Brother" Steve Huntington....nice photo Steve! Posted by Picasa

Street Fest in Key West 2005!!

The Street Fest stage is to the left. Margaritaville Key West and the Margaritaville offices are to the right. I took this picture from the balcony of a second floor room of the Key West La Concha. We had about 30 people up there having some real fun on the balcony overlooking the stage. Duval Street was very full and everyone was having fun as Club Trini with Mr. Utley and Bobby G. played to the masses.Very cool having 3,000 people from all over the USA in Key West. These Parrot Heads are Rockin' Posted by Picasa

Mac McAnally and Jim Mayer of Jimmy's Coral Reefer Band at the Street Fest in Key West last Friday. I saw Mac so many years ago (1978) at Mississippi State University when Jimmy came out and said here is a guy who hasn't travelled very far from his house...but he is really good. Welcome Mac. Posted by Picasa

Don Middlebrook and Fingers Rock the Conch Republic!

Don Middlebrook http://www.livingsoul.com/ and Greg Taylor at the Conch. Yes they rock! Nothing like hearing this sound in the heat and under palms just in sight of the boats and clear blue water of Key West. Have you ever heard Fingers play Fins? Actually this is NOT one of my favorite songs. BUT Fingers made it come alive again. Man I haven't heard that in years...it will bring tears to my old eyes. Jimmy really needs the Fingers touch again. Those songs come alive with his harp. The man is magic. Thanks Don for playing with Greg. You two are the best. Thanks . Posted by Picasa

Me and Greg "Fingers" Taylor at the Conch Republic in Key West. OK so I have said it before...I love this man and his music. I have heard the blues and I have heard harp players back to the 30's...there is only one harp player at the top of my list and this is the man. The Skinny Boy from Jackson, Mississippi is the best in my heart....'Nuff said... Posted by Picasa

Me and Billy Sturgis at the Conch Republic in Key West. Billy worked with Fingers Taylor on the "Sweet Soul Lunch" on radiomargaritaville.com...he also is Finger's manager. (so call him and book Fingers now!) What a great guy. He knows his music and it is good to call him a friend. Posted by Picasa

Sunny Jim on the beach at the Reach Resort. They had a really bad Hurricane here on the South side....worst since the 30's say the locals...but this place recovered quickly....look at that beach, Blue Sky, White Sand...sing it Sunny Jim...yes life is real good in Key West. Yes....Give me the heat Baybee. Posted by Picasa

John Frinzi and Doyle G at the Listserv Partay!!!

John Frinzi and Doyle G (pedal steel on all the Jimmy Buffett music - a really nice guy) at the Listserv party. Links? http://www.johnfrinzi.com/ and http://www.gulfsteelmusic.ws/page1.htm Posted by Picasa

My pal Joe Bennett on the beach at the Reach. Joe is great. He plays everyday at the Margaritaville in New Orleans and is a Hurricane Katrina survivor. If you haven't heard Joe play I advise you buy all his cds and go see him soon. He is better than good. He is great. www.headpirate.com/ Posted by Picasa

The Jim Morris Band welcome to Key West party on Wednesday night at the Hog's Breath Saloon parking lot. A very large gathering spilling into Duval Street. Did we have fun or what? Posted by Picasa

Kevin Mulvenna & Jim Hoehn at the Buffett Listserv Party upstairs at Rick's in Key West. A tradition from the 1990's. These are the guys who did RACAfest. A story that dates back to the early internet days and some partays (as we call them in the South) A gathering of the parrothead faithful from all over in Cincinnati. It is good to see these guys on a stage together. What a nice day...only in Key West..just imagine the 87 degrees, a gentle breeze blowing, a cold beverage in your hand, and many of your closest friends all around you. Posted by Picasa

Trashed Maytag Neptunes in Key West. Hurricane Wilma drowned many appliances but this pair retails for $1500...ouch. This is what I have in my house and I really like my pair. I can only imagine what the owner of these thought about the storm...I love the humor....Happy Halloween...only in Key West. Posted by Picasa
